North Texas United Soccer Club, Soccer, Goal, Field
Q: How can you decide which club is right for your child?
A: At the Academy level the most important thing is that the player enjoys the experience. Additionally, the player must have confidence in what she does on the field with other players. That confidence is built upon the attainment of the skills we teach.

Q: What is the most important key to success for my daughter, development or winning?
A: Unless your child is in the top 1% of local area players and always early in your child’s playing career it is important to choose a club that focuses on development rather than simply winning every game. North Texas United provides a training program where both objectives can be achieved over time. At younger ages development is the focus to ensure success as the girls get older. Winning every game at younger ages does not always mean the individual player is developing the necessary skills to achieve higher goals during their playing career. The club philosophy is very simple: proper early development leads to the desired success.

Q: Which position is the right one for my child?
A: There is not a certain position for younger ages. It is the coach’s philosophy that younger players should experience multiple positions unless the player excels in a certain area. Playing different positions allows the player to build awareness and develop better vision for the game. That is why it is important to respect the coach’s decision for which player plays which position.

Q: Is playing time equal for all girls?
A: Equal playing time at the competitive level is never guaranteed. Playing time is based upon player performance and attitude at practice and during games. Additionally, each player is expected to work on the skills taught in practice at home. Continued improvement, effort and the right attitude will always lead to increased playing time.

Q: What are the practice commitments?
A: Practice is like school, lessons are taught, but the lessons are learned by repetition. That repetition needs to be done at home, at school, and as they get older supplemented as needed with specialized skills training. Team practices, depending on age, are usually twice per week, but as indicated before lessons need to be repeated on their own as often as possible for at least 15 minutes per day.

Q: What is the club philosophy on guest playing for other teams?

A: 95% of the time, guest playing for another team simply means a player is trying out for that team. Trying out for another team is not demonstrating loyalty to the club, your coaches or your teammates. This does not send a good message to your teammates who were not invited to guest play about your devotion to them and to the team.  Therefore, the coaches will not grant a request to guest play unless the player is prepared to leave the club.
